Valencia highlights

Valencia combine harmoniously the remnants of its farthest past, dating to the year 138 BC, with the most innovative and avant-garde buildings from the new millennium. Its a modern city with a remarkable Cathedral, in Gothic style 17th century and its Miguelete Tower, and the modern museum Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias designed by Calatrava. Originally inhabited by the Iberians since early times and it was later colonized by Greek and Carthaginian traders. It passed to the Moors in the 8th century and at the fall of the caliphate of Cordoba in 1022 it gained its independence for a brief period until it was brought under the rule of Aragón.

We suggest a full day visit to explore The Albufera is a freshwater lagoon and estuary on the Gulf of Valencia coast. It is the main portion of the Parc Natural de l’Albufera (“Albufera Natural Park”), with a surface area of 21,120 hectares (52,000 acres) or The City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. The complex is situated at the end of the former riverbed of the river Turia, which was drained and rerouted after a catastrophic flood in 1957. The old riverbed was turned into a picturesque sunken park.
