DAY 1 MADRID-LERMA-BURGOS
Airport Arrival to Madrid airport and direct departure to LERMA If time available, we suggest a short stop for walk in exceptional main square from XVIIth century BURGOS (here we connect with St James’ Path way) Dinner and overnight at hotel
DAY 2 BURGOS-COVARRUBIA-SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS-BURGOS
Breakfast, dinner and overnight at Hotel. Morning guided city tour. We will visita medieval village, which still maintains its original structure andin particularits cathedral, perhaps the best of Gothic Spain.Evena visit to the Cartuja (Charterhouse). Afternoon excursion to COVARRUBIAS nice village, with middle age atmosphere in its streets. After we will visit Monastery… STO. DOMINGO SILOS (very important in middle age as center of wisdom and culture). Presently it is one of the few places in the world where you can enjoy Gregorian Chants, a ‘must’ for classic music lovers (timetable depends on season and day of the week). Return to the hotel.
DAY 3 BURGOS-SAN SEBASTIAN-GUETARIA-BILBAO
Breakfast at hotel and departure to San Sebastian. SAN SEBASTIAN This city is located ina privileged position,along a white sandy bay between twohills. The old townis situated near the picturesque harbor. (It is possible and we suggest a guided tour). Continuation to Bilbao. A suggestion: in the way to Bilbao if you leave the highway exit to Zarautz’, and take direction to Guetaria, 3 kms before GUETARIA the road is like a balcony over and spectacular wild sea panorama,. Magnificent 30 minutes walk, Guetaria is one of the few real fisher ports still in use. BILBAO Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 4 BILBAO-SANTANDER-SANTILLANA
Breakfast at hotel. Theold town is full of very narrow features streets.The Guggenheim Museumof modern art has become the symbol of the city thanks to its cutting-edge architecture (It is possible, and we suggest it, a guided tour). SANTANDER For centuries was the port of Castilla products (wool, wheat,..). It was the summer royal residence at the beginning of the XXth century, some superb palaces as Palacio Magdalena have remained as a summer university SANTILLANA The whole village is considered National monument, and we will enjoy walking Its cobblestone streets lined with stone houses, decorated with half-timbered supports, balconies, balustrades and heraldic shields. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 5 SANTILLANA-COMILLAS-SAN VICENTE DE LA BARQUERA-OVIEDO-LEON
Breakfast at hotel. We will drive along the nice panoramic coast road. COMILLAS Fisher port, old stone houses and a sensational Gaudi Modernist palace (end XIXth century) S. VICENTE BARQUERA Nice panoramic view over the fisher port and village OVIEDO Afternoon guided city tour, we will visit its splendid cathedral and pre-Romanic churches, Santa Maria del Naranco e San Miguel de Lillo. LEON In the middle years of the Christian kingdom, this city became the capital. It is full of historical remains. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 6 LEON-AVILA
Breakfast at hotel. In the morning, guided tour, with its splendid Gothic cathedral, with its beautiful stained-glass Windows and superbchapel of St.Isidoro. Departure to AVILA Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
DAY 7 AVILA-SEGOVIA-MADRID
Breakfast at hotel. Morning guided city tour to visit the Cathedral and its impressive wall perfectly preserved around the middle age downtown. Then we will travel to the near SEGOVIA (67 kms, 50 minutes) Segovia, guided city tourto visit the Alcazar, Cathedral and to remain amazed with the best preserved roman aqueduct on the world. Continue to Madrid MADRID Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
DAY 8 MADRID
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport.
